🥄 Ingredients

  • 12 inch pizza dough
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ pound lean ground beef
  • 1 ½ tablespoons taco seasoning ((homemade or store-bought))
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • ¾ cup refried beans
  • ½ cup chunky red salsa
  • ¾ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • ¾ cup shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • Toppings: diced tomatoes, shredded romaine lettuce, sliced green onions, black olives, sour cream

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Start by making 1 batch of homemade pizza dough, or if using store-bought, allow the dough to reach room temperature, about 20 minutes.

  2. Make the ground beef by heating the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and browning the ground beef. Cook for 8-10 minutes, breaking apart meat into crumbles with a wooden spoon. Discard any excess grease.

  3. Stir in the taco seasoning, tomato paste, and water until it's fully combined and creates a thickened mixture. Set aside.

  4. Preheat oven to 425°F. While the oven preheats, assemble the pizza.

  5. Arrange the pizza dough onto a 12 or 14-inch round pizza pan. Poke holes in the dough with a fork to avoid getting large air bubbles.

  6. Gently spread the refried beans over the pizza dough in an even layer, followed by the red salsa on top.

  7. Evenly sprinkle the ground beef mixture on top followed by the shredded cheese.

  8. Bake in the center rack for 13-15 minutes until the toppings reach a light golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.

  9. Allow the pizza to cool slightly for 5-10 minutes. Top with desired toppings and slice and serve.
